This presentation episode pretty
much has the same storyline and dialogue as in the actual aired pilot but with a few different scenes, specifically in the
finale.
In this story, Willow is lured
by a vampire (as in the aired version) into a trap at the school where Buffy shows up with Xander and kills all the vamps
except one who goes and reports to The Master that there is a Slayer in town.
In the original script, Angel
appeared as a mysterious background character who helps Buffy in the finale and although David Boreanaz had already been cast
to play Angel, he did not appear in the filmed episode.
All of the scenes in this episode
are remade in the episodes "Welcome to the Hellmouth" and "The Harvest " however many of the sets are different including
the library, the bronze and the school. The High school isn't called "Sunnydale
High School" its called "Berryman High
School"
Darla is dusted by Willow
in this pilot.
A different actress plays Willow
in this Pilot however the character is basically the same.
This episode lasts 30 minutes.
One scene shows Xander and
Buffy walking through the schoolyard while he points out all the different groups of students. It looks very familiar to an
early scene in the movie 10 Things I Hate About You
There was no background music
at all during any of the fighting scenes. But in every other episode they always have background music during those scenes.
Harmony says the band playing
at the Bronze is 'Dingoes Ate My Baby'. This is Oz's band who are introduced in the season 2 episode 'Inca Mummy Girl'.
Bianca Lawson was signed on
to play Cordelia. She left the role for a starring role on the UPN series Goode Behavior. She would later return as Kendra
and started a string of WB guest appearances.
Vampires do not dust instantly
in this episode. They gradually become fine dust.
