Jersey Girl

Everybody loves a clown... some more than others...

Will Carson is a loser who works as a children's party clown which takes a turn when he saves the life of a little girl from her abusive father which makes him an instant local celebrity. His rise to fame has him making headlines in local newspapers and even getting his own TV children's show as Fluffy the Clown. But while Will has seemingly forgoten his past, his past did not forget him as a denerate, low-life psycho-sexual pervert/serial killer and his two dim-witted sons blackmail Will for money to cover up a humiliating sexual assault they did on Will a year earlier.

Kevin Smith's character Martan Ingram is a play on Malcolm Ingram, who directed Drawing Flies, which Smith produced.

Vulgar The Clown is the mascot for View Askew Productions.

The first time Vulgar meets the Fanellis, they are in room 37. This number is used frequently in View Askew movies

The character Sam Mosier is named after Scott Mosier, who has edited and produced nearly all of View Askew's films.

Once again, Walt Flannigan's dog is mentioned, just as in other View Askew movies.

When Will is reading the screenplay for the movie to be based on his kid show host character, the author's name on the cover is Monica Hampton - one of the film's producers.

Many of the grips, assistants and film crew took bit parts in the movie (due to the incredibly tight budget).

The script was written in 28 days and the final production was shot in 26 days

The inspiration for Ed Fanelli, the father and lead rapist came from Dennis Hopper's role as Frank Booth in Blue Velvet

The film was edited at Skywalker Sound.

The film was in production for so long that almost all the locations either no longer exist or have moved.

Flappy calls Mrs. "Affleck" to tell her he won't be able to do the party. "Benny" then gets on the phone and talks him into it. A reference to Ben Affleck who has appeared in most of Kevin Smith's films.

Only View Askew movie where Brian O'Halloran's character does not have the last name Hicks.

Continuity error: Will's left hand is supposedly cut after holding a piece of broken mirror, but a minute later the hand is perfectly fine.
